Our system thinking approach helped maximize production, reduce operating costs, increase safety and reduce the carbon footprint of operations on the Åsgard field.
Since 2015 our innovative all-electric subsea gas compression technology, developed with our partners ABB and MAN Energy Solutions, has run at 99% uptime and will enable the recovery of an additional 306 million barrels of oil equivalent from the field. More than NOK 5 billion additional revenue was generated in the first year of operation.
Production is radically increased by moving gas compression facilities from a traditional topside platform to the seabed because of the increase in well pressure. This reduces, or in some cases eliminates, the need for a topside facility.
The next-generation system on Jansz-Io, offshore Australia, will safely reduce capex and installation costs by cutting size and weight by 50% compared to the first generation technology used on Åsgard. By reducing the number of modules that must be built and installed, approximately 8,000 metric tons of CO2 emitted during construction and installation can be saved.
Talk to us. Our subsea experts will get back to you as soon as possible, normally within 24 hours.
